About Abrar Iqbal

Abrar Iqbal is an Islamic scholar who holds a PhD in Islamic research. He is the reviewer of the articles on Kalam-E-Pak.

His job is simple to describe and careful to do: before an article carries his name, he checks that it explains the words of the Quran and of the namaz correctly, quotes its sources faithfully, and says nothing the sources do not say.

Our readers are brothers and sisters in India, Pakistan and around the world who recite the Quran and pray every day, but don't understand Arabic. His review makes sure that what they learn here is right, simple and free of sectarian bias, so they can trust it and use it in their own namaz.

What he checks in every article

  • Every Arabic verse matches the Quran text exactly, with the right sūrah and āyah number.
  • Translations are quoted faithfully from their published sources: Marmaduke Pickthall (English) and Maulana Muhammad Junagarhi (Urdu, given in Roman Urdu).
  • Word-by-word meanings fit how the word is used in that verse.
  • Every hadith is from a known collection and carries its number. If a source can't be confirmed, it is left out.
  • Matters on which scholars differ are presented neutrally, without rulings or opinions.
  • The explanation is respectful, clear and easy for a beginner to follow.

The sources we use

  • Quran text: the Uthmani text of the Quran (Tanzil), word by word from the Quranic Arabic Corpus. We never type a verse from memory.
  • English translation: Marmaduke Pickthall, The Meaning of the Glorious Koran, quoted word for word.
  • Urdu translation: Maulana Muhammad Junagarhi, written in Roman Urdu so it is easy to read.
  • Hadith and namaz texts: always with the collection and number (for example Sahih al-Bukhari 834 or Abu Dawud 775). If we can't confirm a source, we leave it out.
